If you're comparing RV parks near Fort Macon State Park, picture ending your day on a pier that stretches out over the Intracoastal Waterway instead of parked behind a strip of highway. Atlantic RV Resort sits right on the water in Atlantic, NC, with wide standard RV sites, a swimming pool, clubhouse, and an on-site restaurant, so you can spend the morning at the coast and still have somewhere easy to eat dinner when you roll back in.

Fort Macon and the beach and historic landmark at Fort Macon Beach & Historic Landmark make a natural day trip, an easy run down the coast for anyone who likes salt air and old brickwork. Hammocks Beach State Park is another good one to build a day around, and Goose Creek State Park gives you a quieter, woodsy change of pace from the open sound. Farther afield, Cliffs of the Neuse State Park is worth the drive if you want a long walk somewhere new.

Back at the park, the setting does a lot of the work. Guests launch from the boat ramp, tie up at the day dock, clean the day's catch at the fish cleaning station, then take a slow walk along the shoreline while the kids wear themselves out at the playground or on the basketball and pickleball courts. Grounds stay clean and well kept, the bathhouse is a genuine pleasure, free WiFi and laundry keep longer stays simple, and dogs are welcome. We're open year-round.

We enjoyed the walks, being on the water and being dog friendly. It was very tight getting into our spot, but my husband has 25+ years towing, so that was very helpful. A great new pier extending into the inter-coastal offering fishing opportunities coupled with an on-site seafood restaurant made for a fantastic getaway. Your management was very responsive to questions and reservations for a last minute reservation. Thank you!

My wife and I loved Atlantic RV. We only had to travel just under an hour. It is a beautiful place overlooking Portsmouth Island which is uninhabited and there is a ferry to get there. It's also not far from the Cedar Island Ferry to Ocracoke Island. Our camp site looked out over the marsh and there is no telling what coastal birds you might see. Wild Will's Restaurant was also excellent. The sea scallops were devine! My wife's shrimp burger was delicious as well. The hushpuppies melt in your mouth. We will definitely go back multiple times a year. The pool areas is very nice and clean.

Great campground! The whole area is well taken care, free wifi, bathrooms are nice (4 set ups with Delta shower heads), pool, kids play area and a location to eat dinner on site (check times before planning). Have stayed a few times and would again!
